There are certain people which are mostly pro-their-ideology. Whatever they idealize is correct. Whatever they have come to believe is the one way to go to the exclusion of all rationality. The people that I'm referring to often belong to several connected categories from religion to economics even on a map you can see how they neatly conform to whatever ideologies are present in their surroundings, the ideologies that they were raised in.
Interestingly, "those" people are not intrinsically different from other people: they do not have special genetics, they do not have special IQ's (ok, maybe a little bit skewed, but not that much). Therefore "those" people are not just theists/irrationalists. They must also be among us, conforming and blindly following ideologies that just so happen to be rationally defensible. I think I have found a couple up until now, but - unlike "those" people - "these" people are not always easy to identify. Sometimes, a lack of cognitive ability gives away their lack of reasons for their rationally defensible beliefs.
But... What about normal/intelligent people? How can any of "us" know if we are not "one of them" who just happened to be born in the rational side of the fence? what if we just happen to have reasonable beliefs because we were lucky?!
For some of us, there might be a way to know: having been born in an environment with certain ideologies we have disagreed and have demonstrated to have more rational ones. But what if we are born amidst rational people? Will we ever truly know if it is out of luck that we are rational? Would it matter for any other reason than curiosity or pride? Idk. But, maybe it matters for connecting with "them" with the understanding that it might of been "us", at least some of us.
What a rambling. I hope this was not too convoluted. I was just wondering and decided to share my thought. Assuming you did, thanks for bearing with me this far.
